Three striders took on the second largest marathon in the country down on the south coast on Sunday in Brighton. Jenny Ingram-Tedd was first home for the striders in 04-27-58. Marc Hagland finished the 26.2 miles (42km) course in 04-32-46 whilst Paul Marshall, competing in the event for the third time finished in 04-37-00.
Valley and Views
Clare Wing and Davie Stafford took on their fourth marathon this year by taking part in the Valley and Views event which starts in the village of Wilbarston near Corby. (Results still to be confirmed).
The weekly dose of Parkruns had a few Striders out in force. Parkrun is a free 5km (3.2mile) run for every one of all abilities which are hosted around the country at 9am every Saturday. Check the Parkrun website to find out the nearest course to you.
On the road, Steve Wells took on the Great Notley course in Essex and finished 6th out of 246 runners in 20-21. Danik Bates was at Ally Pally course (Alexandra Palace in North London) and finished in 25-08, 86th out of 308 runners. Ken Marshall was at Ellensbrook Field in Hatfield and completed the course in 27-29, 76th out of 183 runners.
Back home at Fairlands Lakes, Stevenage, home to the Stevenage Parkrun, the Striders were out in force again. Here are the times of all the striders taken part in the run where 318 runners took part. Results: Esperanza Castro 25-57 (91st), Anne Miller 26-48 (112nd), Richard Bates 27-01 (118th), Steve Moore 27-28 (128th), Garry Wallace 28-29 (151st), Mark Blease 30-31 (203rd), Tony Castro 33-26 (249th) and Julie Kempson 38-35 (302nd).
