Stevenage Striders Press Release – 27th August 2017
The weekly dose of Parkruns had a few Striders out in force. Parkrun is a free 5km (3.2mile) run for every one of all abilities which are hosted around the country at 9am every Saturday. Check the Parkrun website to find out the nearest course to you.
220 runners took on the two lap course in Fairlands Valley Park on Saturday and first to cross the line was Russell Andrews in 24-30 (52nd). Other results: Steve Moore 25-43 (77th), Danik Bates 29-01 (with a buggy in 119th), Caroline Longfellow 33-40 (172nd), Tracy Norris 50-55 (218th – her 50th parkrun completed)
Parkrun Round-up:
Steve ‘the machine’ Wells gained a top ten place finish in Ellensbrook Fields near Hatfield by finishing 8th out of 162 runners in 18-53. At Panshanger in Hertford where 255 runners took part, Peter Monk 30-25 (161st), Dave Sartain 31-35 (176th) and Louise Glanvill 34-04 (202nd). At St Albans, Becki Brunetti finished in 30-41, coming in 265th out of 384 runners.
Zero to 5km training starts this September
On 5th September and every week for ten weeks, Stevenage Striders will be hosting a free beginners course and will be held in Shephalbury Park. The first course will be on the 5th September starting at 19:15. Any enquires please contact Chris Leigh via the website (details below).
