10k midweek league, race 4. 

24 Striders took on the heat, sprinklers and dust to complete the final scoring fixture of the 2018 10k midweek league season. On a multi terrain course that was relatively flat, the Striders battled the heat well to post favourable times. Again the ladies team beat their nearest rivals Harpenden Arrows, boding well for next season when we hope to battle them for silverware.

Over the league campaign a total of 41 different Striders took part in one or more of the four races.

In the ladies competition in Division 2 Esperanza Castro came runner up in the F55 category. In the men’s competition Steve Wells came 4th in the M50 category, pipped by just one positional race place from picking up the third place trophy.

Presentation of trophies will be made at the mob match 10k on 12th July at Welwyn Garden City.

Race for life half marathon, Bedford 

On Sunday Sue Loughran went completely pink and took on the Race for Life half marathon, in memory of her mum. On the hottest day of the year Sue battled hard and completed the course in 2 hours 38minutes, raising over £850 for cancer research.

St Neots triathlon

Emma Sclanders took on the St Neots sprint triathlon in the weekends heat and had a very successful race finishing 8th lady and third in her age group.

5k parkruns

11 Striders took part in parkruns this weekend over three different courses.

At Stevenage Tom Sclanders finished 22nd out of over 300 finishers in 21:26.
