Watford Half Marathon
Danik Bates took the chance to do his 13-mile training run at the Watford Half Marathon on Sunday. Whilst doing a certain pace to gear him up for the upcoming marathon season, the route took runners through some beautiful countryside but tackling some steep hills at the same time. Danik finished in 01-57-15, coming in 1171 out of 1873 runners.
London Winter Run 10km
Two striders took on the 10km (just over 6 miles) course around central London on Sunday. Peter Monk came in at 52-10 (3324th out of 16444 runners) whilst Kelly Jackson wasn’t far behind in 52-31 (in 3456th position).
Parkrun Report
The weekly dose of Parkruns had a few Striders out in force. Parkrun is a free 5km (3.2mile) run for every one of all abilities which are hosted around the country at 9am every Saturday. Check the Parkrun website to find out the nearest course to you.
On the road: Danik Bates took on the two-lap woodland course at Rushmere near Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, finishing in 23-15, 16th out of 133 runners. Alan Watt was at the Hartlepool course and came in 23-44 (36th put of 98 runners). Becki Brunetti was at St Albans and finished in 30-45 (300th out of 388 runners). Sue Loughran was at Blickling in Norfolk finishing in 34-20 (194th out of 233 runners).
Stevenage: 226 runners took part on the two-lap course around Fairlands Valley Lakes on Saturday and the only Strider in the event was Tracy Norris who finished in 38-42, coming in 217th.
